
Bellamy Young, born Amy Maria Young on 19 February 1970, ([1]) is an American actor, director, and singer who is best well-known for her character Melody "Mellie", Grant, in ABC's drama series Scandal (2012)-2018. In 2014, the Critics' Choice Television awarded her the Best Supporting Actress award in a Drama Series. In addition, she starred on the Fox show Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young began her acting career as a theatre actor. She made her Broadway debut on stage in 1997 as Mary in The Life's first cast. Additionally to being her Broadway debut, she has played Mary off Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's musical Merrily You Roll Along (1994) and Randy Newman's Faust (95-1996). [3][10] She first appeared on television in 1995 as Dr. Courtney Evans, in her role as a frequent guest on the NBC soap drama Another World. She appeared in two parts in the show Law & Order, 1997 and 1998. She debuted in a film on the big screen in 1999. She played a minor role in Black and White, a crime-drama. Then she appeared in various independent movies. Around the turn of the century, she was able to appear on a number of comedy and drama television shows, such as The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. From 2000 to the year 2011, Young appeared in more than 30 guest appearances on television shows.
